ঝন্টিগঞ্জ নামের এক পাহাড়ি স্বাস্থ্যকর জায়গায় এক গেস্ট হাউসে সস্ত্রীক এসে উঠলেন এক ভদ্রলোক। তাদের মেয়ে মামনি অসুস্থ। একটু হাওয়াবদলের জন্য তাদের এখানে আসা। তারা আসবার পর থেকেই এই বাড়িতে এক বাদুড়ের উৎপাত বেড়ে গেলো। পুরো এলাকাটি বড় নির্জন। মানুষজনের বাস নেই। বাড়িটির পিছনেই আছে এক কবরখানা। মামনি একদিন কবরখানায় গিয়ে দেখলো সেখানে বসে ছবি আঁকছেন এক সাহেব। তার নাম জোসেফ। কিন্তু কবরখানায় একটি সমাধির উপর লেখা আছে জোসেফ বেশ কিছুদিন আগেই মারা গিয়েছেন। এক বাদুড় এসে মামনিকে দংশন করে যায়, মামনি যন্ত্রণায় ছটফট করে। কেয়ারটেকার এসে জানায় আসলে এটি বাদুড় নয়। তাহলে ওটা কী? কে দংশন করে যায় মামনিকে?

A gentleman and his wife came to a guest house in a hilly place called Jhantiganj. Since their daughter Mamoni was sick, they had gone there for a change of air. Since they have come, a bat has been bothering their room. The whole area is deserted, there is no one living there. There is a cemetery behind the house. Mamoni had gone to the cemetery one day and saw a gentleman sitting there drawing a picture. His name was Joseph. But on a tombstone in the cemetery, it was written that Joseph died some time ago. A bat comes and bites Mamoni, Mamoni writhes in pain. The caretaker comes and says that it is not a bat. So what is it? Who bites Mamoni?
